I love What The Font!
About a year ago, I contacted the folks over at MyFonts.com about an idea I had – Shazam (or SnapTell) for fonts.
Basically, I wanted an iPhone application that could take pictures of type in the wild (billboards, packaging, etc), load the photo into MyFonts “What The Font” server, and return the typeface name (with the hopes that a user could make a mobile purchase – sending the typeface to their desktop inbox – or, at least be able to save the new typeface name via e-mail).
Well, my contact with MyFonts.com went quite well, and I began a brief iPhone application project where I tried my best to build an app. My attempts didn’t go so well, I abandoned the project, and just hoped for the best. It seems a lot of my ideas get made by others (sometimes to the breaking of my heart), and now MyFonts.com has launched their WTF iPhone app!

This application looks stunning, and I’m just now downloading it to my iPhone. I’ll write a review and have asked my wife, Justine (a great graphic designer, and iPhone owner) to do the same.
Congratulations, MyFonts.com, you guys have done a great job!
Update:
Super iphone Blog apparently has crawled the Web and found my Web site, adding this post to their listings. Unfortunately, there seems to be some kind of translation error (also appearing on all their copied posts) – maybe that’s meant to make the content seem original? Whatever the reason, it’s a funny read.
