Introducing “Maggy” from chadedge on Vimeo.

Ok, so “Maggie” isn’t her real name - truth is we don’t know her real name since she doesn’t have a collar or a chip.

We found this beauty sitting on our doorstep Monday evening after work. She was very clean (ears, coat, teeth, paws) so we figured she wasn’t a stray. I put an ad up on Craigslist lost and found, and have put some flyers up in our neighborhood - so far to no reply.

She’s a beautiful cat, very loving, and pregnant (it’s so weird feeling kittens kicking inside). We’re caring for her until someone comes calling. If nobody claims her by the weekend, we’ll be taking her to the local PAWS shelter (a no-kill shelter that helps pregnant cats).

So far she’s been a dream to have in the house - except for how our first cat, Bitty has been taking things. Bitty is now quite depressed and jealous of “Maggie,” as was expected when another adult female came into the house. We’ve been trying to spend as much time with Bitty as possible to keep her from feeling betrayed or cast aside - we’re just trying to be good neighbors by caring for “Maggie” temporarily.

PS: “Maggie” was Justine’s choice in names, naming the cat after Hillary Swanks character in Million Dollar Baby. The reason for this choice was because “Maggie” has thumbs and looks like she’s wearing boxing mitts.

Update: (2008-05-23) “Maggie” is now at the animal shelter on 15th ave (just outside Ballard). She was too close to having her kittens to have them at our house (she needed so see a vet and be under good care and watch), and she and our kitteh didn’t get along very well (ours is very territorial). We (well, I) miss her very much and hope she’s doing well. I want to go visit her once she has her kittens.

This weekend, my wife made a spinach and ricotta quiche. Simply amazing.

Oh ya, all the veggies were locally grown and organic, thanks to our new in-home delivery service.

So taking a cab to work today I has a brief discussion with my cabbie - about Scientology.

The conversation ended with “Well, I don’t want to transform you, but…” and he handed me the following:

Transform me? Is that the new term? Perhaps I’ll watch the DVD and learn - or start wearing an aluminum-foil helmet.

I was trying to find a tool (or preference pane) that would hide my desktop icons while I make screencasts. I found an applescript that could do something similar (not perfect for my needs), but then I tripped over Foggy Noggin’s DeskToppple.

There’s a free (donationware) and pro version you can use to not only hide icons, but a lot more.

This is totally my new best friend.

Here’s a low-res (but high in dimension) demo video:
