biddy and chad sleeping

I may have stated this earlier, but I wanted to repeat it: I miss the kitten. She’s much bigger now (as the photo above shows), but she’s still sweet, and I’m still in love with her.

The ‘don’t move a sleeping cat’ statement comes from when Justine tried to move Biddy from the crook of my arm to the middle of the bed. The next event is debatable (as I was asleep) but from what the kitten told me later, she hissed at Justine, made a ceremonial swat at Justine, and then returned to the crook of my arm, returning to sleep.

Let sleeping kitten lie?

First, let me be perfectly clear: I wish everyone the utmost freedom and joy in their own faith. In order for me to secure my own faith, I need to be comfortable with others and theirs. Respect for respect, in my mind. Mind you, I might get into a conversation - rarely a debate - about faith and the differences in the ‘ideas’ we all have, but I would never criticize and call anothers ideas ‘wrong.’

That said, let me tell you the film Jesus Camp scared the bejesus out of me. I have an enormous respect for most Christians, they have a pretty good idea as far as I’m concerned (note: I speak for myself, now and always). I find it hard to accept that many of the people in the film Jesus Camp could be grouped into the respected category of the majority of Christians worldwide. Just as there are extremists in any group (I used to be a militant Straight Edge), Christianity is not excluded. Perhaps I’m missing something, but the words coming out of the mouths of the children in this movie most often sound rehearsed; could it be at their age they are merely mirrors of their environment, their parents? Are the children trying to please someone, their parents or peers, or are they convinced at such a young age merely by their environment that ‘this is how life should be?’

I can’t answer any of that; it doesn’t make a bit of difference in my life, nor in theirs. Criticizm won’t do anyone any good when it comes to faith or soul.

I’m not sure where I was going with this post. I suppose just the basic point that Jesus Camp scared the crap out of me. This movie is no different an example of extremism than Straight Edge, Jihad, etc.. Doesn’t scare me any less than the rest, I guess. Just shocking.

So what’s my position on religious freedom overall? That link is a good answer.

Yeah, I’m pretty stoked about this, even being a die-hard Final Cut studio worker.

I doubt I’ll convert to Premier, I’m just happy to see that Adobe is looking at the Mac positively again in offering a pretty powerful video/audio editing suite.

The tie-ins with Premier and AfterEffects alone are worth the admission (I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had to re-render in AfterEffects my DVD menu animations, then compress in Compressor, then re-import to DVD Studio Pro)… wow.
