I’ve learned (at least the way my luck goes) that as soon as I open my mouth about an idea, that idea materializes elsewhere, much to my loss.
So, you’d think I would have learned to keep my mouth shut about projects, ideas, or revolutionary Web applications, right? Guess again. At least this time, I’m being very careful about where, when and to who I mention an idea.
The idea in this case is “Mybrarian” or “MagStand,” a new project I’m tinkering with. This project has zero development and is currently just an idea floating about in my head (somthing to solve a problem I have with my memory). Perhaps the idea is a flop, perhaps it’s the next George Foreman grill. Who knows? I certainly don’t and I won’t until I figure out a) is there a market for such a product; b) what’s the development and deployment cost vs the return; c) what effort does it take on my part to launch and can I pass the idea to another team of developers; d) when am I ever going to get sleep?
For now, I’m keeping my ideas under wraps for a couple reasons: a) I simply don’t have time to take on other projects; b) undertaking another project would not be fair or ethical while I’m working for others; c) I’m just not going to tell you C.
So, why did I decide to even hint about Mybrarian/MagStand? Because if I don’t at least get a post on my blog with the names and the hints, then I’ll never have control over when and where the idea was spawned/photocopied. For now, just sit in wonder. Read your magazines and we’ll talk later.
PS: the logos above were just some Web 2.0 mockups I did because Justine is no fan of that style. I love you, hon.
