So for awhile I’ve been running Text Link Ads (the company name) on the lower-right hand side of my Web page(s). They’ve been pretty good to me, keeping the ads in line with my content, and the money has been nice (it’s not making me rich, but it’s been enough to pay the monthly hosting bill on Chadedge.com at least).
So, while working late at work today I decided to add Google AdSense to the page as well – why not, what have I got to lose? I’m not really concerned with the millions of visitors I get each month (sarcasm!), so I thought it’d be worth a shot to a) find out how relevant the ads are from Google and b) see if I can make a couple bucks in the process.
All of this ad content comes just before I finish yet another revision of the chadedge.com Web site. I’ve been planning for a long time to opening up new sections (a better blogging system, a photo gallery and some code snippets to share). I hope the ad content will carry over, so for now please enjoy the tests; if enjoying ads can be had.
PS: I noticed (from viewing my own page in the browser) that the first Google ad displayed was about DHTML nested select menus – perfect for me. Google requests that you don’t click on ads from your own page, however, this ad was a perfect fit for me and I actually learned something (even bookmarked the company selling the menu builder product). If I purchase the advertisers product, does that harm anyone? I thought not.
